Este libro expone ejemplos de parques culturales en diferentes partes del mundo. Es una interesante pedagogía de como territorios pueden llegar a ser considerados parques culturales.

Editado por Virginia Thiébaut, Magdalena García Sánchez y María A. Jiménez. Publicado por El Colegio de Michoacán en 2008.

Sinopsis:

La indisoluble relación entre la sociedad y el ambiente natural en el que habita ha dejado profundas huellas a lo largo de la historia de la humanidad; estas huellas pueden rastrearse como manifestaciones que se expresan en paisajes culturales. El estudio de estos paisajes permite acercarse a la comprensión de fenómenos sociales desde distintas perspectivas. Si bien este tipo de estudios tienen una larga trayectoria, en nuestro país la posibilidad de hacer uso del paisaje cultural como una alternativa para la protección del patrimonio cultural, es relativamente novedosa y se constituye en un reto.

Los autores de los 17 artículos que componen este libro, han tomado este desafío y se han dado a la tarea de presentar sus experiencias en tres ámbitos: en la caracterización de paisajes culturales, antiguos y presentes; en la identificación de importantes -y en ocasiones muy acelerados- procesos de transformación del entorno ambiental derivados de prácticas sociales concretas; y en los éxitos, fracasos y nuevas propuestas en la protección de este tipo de patrimonio.
