Los MOOC y las nuevas oportunidades de aprendizaje

Los MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses), son cursos masivos (no hay un limite de matriculaciones), se imparten en formato online y son de carácter abierto y gratuito.

Aunque una de sus características es que son cursos gratuitos, existen algunos cursos MOOC que tienen algún coste añadido, como en la expedición de título, por ejemplo, o si quieres un seguimiento más profundo por parte del docente.

A estos cursos, accedes a ellos a través de una plataforma online y en ella encontrarás vídeos, presentaciones y actividades tendrás que ver, leer o realizar a lo largo del curso a fin de obtener el certificado correspondiente. Cada curso tiene un calendario, y sus actividades se pueden seguir de acuerdo con este calendario. Para obtener el certificado de realización del curso tienes que haber realizado un porcentaje de actividades dentro de los períodos previamente establecidos.

Los MOOC se realizan a través de plataformas específicas, y los centros que realizan las formaciones son universidades de todo el mundo. La plataforma más conocida es Coursera, dónde se encuentran universidades como Princeton, Yale o Columbia y sus cursos son, mayoritariamente, en inglés. Aunque existen otras plataformas como: Udacity, Miríada X, EdX, UNIMOOC, Iversity o Canvas, entre otras, y en ellas se pueden encontrar cursos en distintos idiomas como el español.

Los MOOC son una oportunidad para poder realizar un curso en algunas de las universidades más prestigiosas, y también, una forma de practicar idiomas si realizas el curso en inglés u otro idioma extranjero.
